Obituary of Edward Wilson, Sr.

Edward (Eddie) Wilson transitioned on March 22, 2021 after a hard fought battle with Covid. His four beloved children were with him at his bedside. He was born February 16, 1956 in Rochester, New York, to Harry and Vivian Wilson.

He was predeceased by both parents, two older sisters and two older brothers. He is survived by the mother of his four children, Judy (McGee) Wilson, one daughter, Chawanna N. Wilson, both of Rochester, New York. He leaves three sons, Edward Wilson of Seattle, Washington, Evander Wilson and Emmanuel Wilson, both of Rochester, New York. He has two grandchildren, Travis Bowman and London Wilson-Nash. He leaves three surviving sisters, Katherine Campbell and Vivian Miller of Rochester, New York, Shirley Hall of Charlotte, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Wilson, as his hundreds of students would call him, taught for more than thirty years in the Rochester City School District. But, he was more than just a teacher. He served as a tremendous role model and mentor to all of his students, especially his male students of color. He encouraged them to always push forward and do their best.
