Obituary of Richard Walker, Sr.
Richard Walker Sr. was born February 14, 1944 in Rochester, New York to the late Walter and Annie Walker.
Richard married Clementine “Barbara” Hay on October 27th 1967 and to their union was added three sons and one daughter.
Richard graduated from Madison High School in Rochester, NY. Richard retired from Rochester Products where he held various positions after 30 yrs. of faithful service. Richard was affectionately known as “Papa Richard” by his great grandchildren, “Unk” by nieces and nephews, Rev” by his friends, and “hurricane” because of his speed in everything he did by members of First Church of God. Richard received Christ as his savior at an early age and demonstrated his faith by consistently making hospital visits, participating in street ministry, and in 2005 partnering with minister Ronald House in a radio ministry on 3WG, called Divine Revelation, this radio ministry provided prayer, healing and teaching to the listen-ers. Richard also served as the interim pastor of Church of God in Caledonia, NY.
In 2005, Richard joined Hope Divine Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Sammie L. Drayton Sr. At Hope Divine Church of God Richard served as a part of the planning of the church, as a deacon, minister of worship and as assistant pastor. Everyone who came in contact with Richard was exposed to his strong faith and his unwavering resolve to live his life uncompromised for Jesus Christ. A faithful man of God, husband, a great father and grandfather, and dear friend, Richard’s presence will be missed.
Richard departed this life on Saturday, December 1, 2012.
Richard Walker Sr. leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Clementine “Barbara” Walker, three sons Ralph (Sandra) Hay Sr., and Dennis Walker of Rochester, NY, Richard (Karen) Walker Jr. of Baltimore, MD, one daughter Loretta (Godfrey) Riley of Rochester, NY , two brothers, Bennie (Carolyn) Walker of Fayetteville, NC., Jessie (Denise) Walker of Rochester NY, ;two sisters Virginia Devine and Marie Mizell, of Rochester, N.Y.; and 9 grand children, 9 great grandchildren, good friends Deacon Lee Taylor and Minister Ronald House and a host of nieces, neph-ews, and other relatives and friends.
Interment, Grove Place Cemetery, Chili, NY.
