Obituary of Doris Morgan
Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doris Morgan, affectionately known as "Aunt Dor" was born in Davyton, Manchester, Jamaica, West Indies on March 6, 1916. At the age of 13 Doris lost her mother and at such a tender age was thrust into motherhood to her 5 sisters, a brother, and their loving father, William.
Doris later gave birth to three of her own, Herma and Hubert (both deceased), and Alma. Along with raising her siblings and her children she also assisted in raising her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In 1978 Doris migrated to the United States to relax and enjoy her family, but that was short lived due to the passing of her daughter, Herma. Here again, Doris became the mother of her grandchildren. (Aunt Dor also assisted in raising two of her great grandchildren, Tyiana and Malik.)
She later moved to Rochester in 1991 to be closer to her daughter Alma. Here she became a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and also a participant in the adult daycare program at St. Ann's Community.
In 1999, due to advanced age, Aunt Dor moved into St. Ann's nursing home where she spent her last days.
On Thursday, October 13, 2005 with her family at her bedside, the Lord called her home to be with Him.
She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Alma (Cecil) Small, loved ones: Catherine, Gladys, Patrick, Wayne, Jodie, Dean, Warren, Christopher, Deseree, Heather, Charmaine, Sheila, Paulette, Vireen, Cyrene, Hyacinth, Albert, Earl, Donald, Franklin, Everoy, Anthony, Derrick, Wayne, Nichole, Tyiana, Keyana, Shannon, Elease, Joshua, Jermaine, Patrick Jr., Wayne Anthony, Marcus, Aaron, Malik, Amiya, Destiny and Joshua; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Aunt Dor we all love you, and you will be missed.
