Obituary of Elizabeth Sheppard
Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth Agnes Majors Sheppard was born September 25, 1932 in Linwood, New York to the Late John and Catherine Redman Majors.
Having come to Rochester at an early age, she attended #9 school and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School. She was baptized at Aenon Baptist Church as a young teenager.
Elizabeth worked at Gerber's as a Lab Inspector, and later came to be employed by RT French's Corporation, while taking on the responsibility of raising her niece Patty and nephew John Majors III. Elizabeth met and fell in love with Mr. Ruther Bernard Sheppard. The couple was married June 8, 1964. Together they established a business, "Shep's Paradise", had a son Ruther Sheppard Jr., and raised a family of six.
Liz is known for her awesome culinary skills. She was famous for her authentic recipes for coconut cake, potato salad, barbeque ribs, cornbread dressing, and many other favorites. She prided herself in keeping the patrons of Shep's Paradise well fed and coming back to the kitchen for the secrets that she stirred up with love in her pots. However, her favorite full time passion was that of taking care of her husband, partner, and friend of forty-seven years. They were one.
Elizabeth leaves to mourn, her beloved partner and soul mate, husband Ruther (Shep); children, Ruther Jr. (Michelle), Zoe Ann, Kevan (Beverley), Phillippe (Sylvia), Zelda, Alicia, and Marie. She is survived by her brother, John Majors Jr. (Stella), sister Alice Peterson (Joseph), God daughter Lakeia Williams, and her beloved niece JoAnn Williams. She leaves also grandchildren, Brandy, PJ, Paijon, Talia, Kevan, LaMonya, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins too numerous to name, but not forgotten.
