My heart goes out to the Patterson family. As I was pacing the 4th floor at Strong on Wednesday, Thursday and early Friday morning -- I would walk out of Jeff's room and go past Shamar's room and think and pray for you all.
I know that today, on Mother's Day, will be especially hard for you Joan. Living life without our "babies" is hard to imagine. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and your family. I know with all my heart that you will meet again with Shamar and me with Jeff and knowing that, and that we have the love of God embracing us always, is what keeps me going.
Love to you all,
Mary Jane Milano Jeff Milano-Johnson's mom

May God Bless your family. I moved my son to the suburbs, also, to help keep him out of harms way. He is 15, he is my only son. He also likes to go to the city to see his grandmother. I cried all the way home from work when I heard this story. I was almost obsessed with it. You never got the chance to say so many things.
I am soo sorry about your loss. You and your family will remain in our prayers for a long time to come.
Shamar is now your angel. May assist our Lord in watching over his family.

I just want to send prayers and love to the Patterson family (especially to his dear mother and his siblings) I know this is a hard time for all of you and it is no easier for me. Shamar was a sweet boy and he was truely loved and he will be "always and forever." He was one of a kind and he means so much to me and many others. I can only hope that he is ok and in peace with God right now. My heart goes out to everyone during this time. He was taken too soon but he was great for the time he was here. Love *Janee'

I worked with Shamar at Nathaniel Rochester Community School. Shamar's mom was right when she said he was the class clown. It breaks my heart that he's gone. I prayed so hard for a full recovery. I guess God saw that angel laying there and decided that heaven would be even more beautiful with Shamar there. Maybe heaven needed a class clown. I want to express my condolences and tell Joan Patterson that she is very strong. I know that Shamar's death will not be in vain. We need more parents like Joan standing up and saying "You have messed with the wrong mother." God bless you and your family.

I have subbed in the Gates Chili School District since 9/2000. Yesterday, Wednesday, 4/18th, I had the honor of meeting Shamar's grandmother at Washington Irving Grade School. What a beautiful lady she was. I can see where Shamar got his kindness and gentleness. This past year I had filled in as secretary in the 11th grade office. Shamar was truly one of my favorite students. I would so look forward to his stopping by just to say hello to me. He truly brightened my day. His sense of humor and politeness was so refreshing. He truly is God's angel in heaven and is looking down on his family. I will always remember him and he will have a very special place in my heart. May God bless Shamar's parents and the entire Patterson family.

My Deepest Sympathy to family of a very nice young man,Shamar. Who touched many lives. God Bless, Kay
I'M FREE Don't grieve for me for now I'm free, I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss. But be not burdened with times of sorrow, For I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full. I've savored much, Good friends, good times and loved ones' touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your ears and share with me. God wanted me now. He set me free!
