Obituary of Drake Louis Scott
Please share a memory of Drake to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Drake L. Scott entered this world as he left it, a shining star and we will remember him for the light he was and still will be within our hearts.
Drake was born on August 20, 1990 to Drake Scott Sr., & Novella Hill-Junious. Alongside Cinthia Junious, Novella raised Drake in a loving home in Rochester, New York, later settling in the City of Boston, Massachusetts. To say his name, the first word that comes to mind is melody, his musical and lyrical artistic talents is what made you love him even more.
Drake was a smart young man who received his GED at age 16; he went on to attend Massachusetts Bay Community College and the New England Institute of Art for Music. In recent years his focus has been exclusively on his music career and sharing his creations with the ones he loved most. Though, he was not the oldest child, he was the eldest-born son, he was the rock of his family and protector to his parents and siblings. The bond he had with his big sister Brittany and two younger brothers Kenneth and Adam is undeniable. If you knew him, you knew his passion for his craft; he excitedly spoke about it often, especially after writing the lyrics to a favorite song or after performing for a crowd who showed him so much love. He would be smiling and high fiving his supporters, just being humble for where he was. More recently, he was proud of his song "Young Simba", in it he sang about his struggles and dreams, he called his mother a queen, and implored "If I die tonight make sure my story is told." The story of who he was, like when he handed out bags of food to the homeless or how he would carry bags with socks and five dollar bills, to give to whomever needed it. His mother reflects on a time where her son handed over takeout food he had just purchased to a homeless couple under a blanket in the cold. The love of music was shared by his mother and even at the passing of singer Vanity this month, he phoned her to make sure she was ok. Drake's passion to be a star poured out of his soul, determined and strong willed. Drake would be seen looking good and working hard to as he would say "gotta stay fly and take what's mine." He wasn't the type to seek handouts he worked for everything he had and his family, till now are all very proud of the man he had come to be.
Drake leaves a lasting memory within his parents, Novella Hill-Junious & Cinthia Junious and Drake Scott, Sr. Loving siblings, brothers, Kenneth & Adam; Sister, Brittany; Maternal grandparents, Ira and Sue Hill; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
