Obituary of William Ashford

March 15, 2008 on his 67th birthday. William Ashford was born to the union of the late Harrison and Ollie Ashford on March 15, 1941 in Columbus, Mississippi; the first child of that union. Upon graduation from Muskegon Heights High School in Muskegon, Michigan, he worked a few years at Brunswick Factory but eventually moved to Rochester, New York when he began working for the Eastman Kodak Company. William enjoyed his life. He loved interacting with people from all walks of life. His hobbies were traveling, photography, fishing, hunting and casinos. William was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Horace Ashford. Special thanks to all of the cousins of Rochester, New York. Family has been the nucleus to maintaining William's care before his death. The patriarch of the New York family, Mauern Ashford immediately stepped in in the time of need to ensure accuracy. Younger members followed his lead and aided with all procedures. To all Ashford's near and far, heartfelt thanks for your assistance prayers, encouragement and support. You reinforced what we already knew about family…"Family is everything". Survived by his daughter, Wylena Ashford-Walker; brothers, Rev. Stanley Ashford of Muskegon, MI and Ralph Ashford of Denver, CO; sisters, Ellen Ann Ashford of E. Kentwood, MI, Nancy Jean Ashford of Detroit, MI and Ginger Ashford of Muskegon, MI; special niece, DeAngela Ashford; a host of other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
