Josephine Aiken was born on February 22, 1934 in Bennettsville, South Carolina to Johnnie and Bertha Dupree. She began her early education in South Carolina until the family moved to Brooklyn, New York where she completed her education at Clara Barton High School. After high school in Brooklyn, NY Josephine met and married Otis Stovall Sr. and had two sons, Otis Stovall Jr. and James Larry Stovall, who have both gone on before her to be with the Lord. Josephine worked at Pilgrim State Hospital in Long Island, New York until she retired in 1995. She moved to Rochester, New York in 2002 to enjoy her family and retirement. She reaffirmed her relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and joined In Christ New Hope Ministries, Inc., where Roger Breedlove is her Pastor. Josephine enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, crossword puzzles, watching movies and long rides in the country. On Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 5:25AM, Josephine went home to be with the Lord. Predeceased by her sons, Otis Stovall Jr. and James Larry Stovall; Josephine leaves to cherish fond memories in the hearts of her daughter, Patricia Stovall-James; sister, Flora J. Clark of Brooklyn, NY; brother, Howard Dupree of Florence, SC; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; special niece/goddaughter, Patricia (Isaiah) Cooper; a host of other relatives and friends. Interment, Riverside Cemetery.
