Obituary of Rebecca Hamilton

Rebecca Hamilton was born in Sycamore, South Carolina to the late Austin Jackson and Lillie Mae Stokes. She received her education in the South Carolina school system. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age.
She married the late Eddie L. Hamilton and they moved to Rochester in 1959 to make a better life for her and the family. She was employed by Taptex sewing factory for 25 years until her health started to fail her.
Rebecca also served as a faithful member of First Genesis Missionary Baptist Church for approximately 30 years. She will forever be remembered and cherished for her loving generosity toward others.
Mother Rebecca Hamilton entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 26, 2008. She is preceded by two sisters, Mary Anne Hayes and Rebecca Steward, and one brother, Zeke Stokes. Forever cherished by: her son, Alvin Hamilton; two daughters, Reverend Joyce Hamilton and Jacqueline (Gordon) Edwards; her dog, Tromley, all of Rochester, New York; two step daughters; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (Rev. Ernest) Jackson and Pauline Natalie, both of Rochester, New York; special friend, Fred Smith; an adopted son, Michael Brown; goddaughter Charmine Hunter; four special friends, Clara Crittenden, Lauraella Cleveland, Strody Hannah and Lucille Sloan; and a host of other relatives, her First Genesis Church family and friends.
Interment, Riverside Cemetery.
