To Danny, D, Jamal and grandson and bereaved family members of Nancy Walters; I am expressing my heartfelt sympathy and love to you on the loss of my dear friend and sister in the Lord, Nancy. She was a rare jewel, one of a kind, tenderhearted and fun to know. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart and saves such as be of a contrite spirit. Psalm 34. 18. In the days to come allow the Holy Spirit to minister comfort to you all, and God's peace forever cover you until we all meet her again in glory. Love Rose Stokes and son Jonathan

My heart goes out to the Walters Family, Mrs. Walters was my 3rd grade teacher words cannot describe what Mrs. Walters means to me. She was more than a teacher she was my parent at school. She invited me in her home numerous time as a child, and 23 years later made me a better person.Through out the years when I see Mrs. Walters she always remember my name that meant the world to me because that meant that I influence her Life also. I Love You Mrs. Walters and you will always have a place in my heart.

Nancy was a wonderful teacher. At times, she would have a challenging student or two. What always impressed me was that Nancy did not "give up" on those students. She was firm, fair, compassionate and was not happy until she was able to get the best from her students.
Nancy also had a beautiful voice, which she would use at times during special school functions. Her spirit lifted others.
My sincere sympathies on the loss of your wife, mother and grandmother. Nancy always spoke with pride whenever talking about her family.
May you find peace in the days to come and comfort in the memories of this fine woman.

When I began teaching Second Grade at #33 in the Rochester City School District, Nancy was assigned as my mentor but soon became my angel. We worked next door to each other. She proved to be not only an excellent role model, but a trusted colleague and friend. I have many fond memories of sharing ideas for lessons, developing student support systems, and even selling popcorn at lunch as "The Popcorn Peddlers" to raise money for field trips. Nancy was truly a master teacher and competent leader. I feel privileged to have worked with her. She taught me so much and I will carry a part of her with me forever. Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy at this time.

My heart is heavy as I reflect upon a woman who touched my life in such a way that life will never be the same. I first met Mrs. Nancy Walters when my brother was in her 3rd grade class (he is now 35 yrs old). Many years later when I worked at #33 school, we established a friendship where I would go to her house and do her hair...it was during that time, that we would talk, share and most importantly (to me),she would encourage me to go back to school...I did! Mrs. Walters knew that I had become a teacher, but, I never had the opportunity to share that last year, I became an Assistant Principal...So Mrs. Walters, as you shine your light down upon me...know that your encouraging words paid off. I am striving hard to make it. You would be proud! Thank you Thank you!!
To the family...LOOK TO THE HILLS!!!! This is where you will find your comfort and peace during this very difficult time. Always remember (as I will also) to cherish the times that you shared, reflect upon the memories that you made, and know that...that sweet woman with the beautiful voice, bright smile, and loving voice will forever be a part of your heart and soul..., and just a thought away!
May God Bless and keep you now and forever!

Nancy was, not only the president of AKOMA--- our women's gospel choir---she was her heart as well: Faithful, committed, compassionate, loving, and willing to be a part of any small or gigantic task. Even during her illness, Nancy kept track of both the choir's business and engagements. She offered advice and counsel and attended concerts and business meetings as her health permitted.
No group of women could have asked for a more patient and productive sister-leader. She was a strong tower, a mighty force and a genuine heart full of grace.
Our prayers, love and support to Danny, her strong arm of love; their sons; her/our AKOMA sister, Louise; and the entire family.
A song has left our throat but the melodious "harmony" of peace she left for all of us will linger in our rememory.
A Heart Full of Sister Love, Arlette

Danny, Dee and Jamal, I pray that God will ease your pain as you go on without Nancy. Growing up in North Carolina, there were four of us: Nancy, Bannie, Millicent and myself. We spent so much time together in Salisbury and have so many good memories of our days together. Now, our circle has been broken, and life just will not be the same. So now, I live to see my dear friend, my "big sister", my cousin again on the other side.
