Obituary of Barnetta Roscoe
Please share a memory of Barnetta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ms. Barnetta L. Roscoe was born on October 11, 1952 from the union of Bernice Roscoe and Sam Robins in Prairie, AL. She grew up surrounded by a wealth of aunts, uncles and energetic cousins.
Shortly after graduating from High School, she moved north to Rochester in 1970 at the behest of some of those same cousins. Barnetta had her first daughter, Renita, in 1971. That blessing was soon followed by sweet Sugar in 1973. Finally, "the mold was broken" with the arrival of her youngest daughter, Tyra in 1976.
She was a dedicated stay at home mom until 1987 when she went to work for a Fortune 500 company where she remained for over 18 years. In 2006 came the arrival of her 1 and only grandson, Teddy. She was a doting grandmother for as long as her body would allow. In 2008 she was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer. Barnetta passed away September 13, 2009, after a valiant battle.
She is predeceased by her father (Sam Robins), brother (Chester A. Roscoe, Sr.) and sisters (MaryAnn and Creola L. Roscoe). She leaves behind to celebrate her life and cherish her memory: 3 daughters: Renita Andréal Roscoe, Evangaline "Sugar" Roscoe and Tyra L. Roscoe; 1 grandson, Tremayne A. Wyatt; her mother, Bernice Roscoe, 1 sister, Altheia Roscoe; 1 uncle, Willie Roscoe; 2 nephews, Jeffrey Roscoe and Chester "CJ" Roscoe; 1 niece, Deborah Roscoe; Lifelong friend and companion, Orion T. Hicks, and a host of other relatives and friends.
