Revelation 21:4 Rachel Barnwell Clark was born November 29, 1947, in Beaufort County, South Carolina, on Half Moon Island, a daughter of the late David and Susie Barnwell. Rachel was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in Rochester. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and at an early age, became a member of the Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church, Dale, South Carolina. Her religious beliefs continued throughout her life and after making Rochester, New York her home, she became a member of the Baber A.M.E. Church there. She received her education in the local public schools of Beaufort County and was a 1966 graduate of the Robert Smalls High School. She continued her education at Benedict College, Columbia, SC, where she received a BA degree in Elementary Education and later received a Master's degree from Nazareth College, Rochester, New York, in Special Education. She taught in both the Atlanta, Georgia and Rochester, New York public school systems. Prior to being employed as a teacher, she was employed by the United States Postal Service for ten years in Rochester. Those left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory include her husband, Curtis Clark; three sons, Vernon Clark (Joy), Carlton Clark (Latoshi) and Warren Clark (Latoya); one daughter, Wanda Clark and nine grandchildren, all of Rochester, NY; three brothers, Anthony Barnwell of Dale, SC, Phillip Barnwell (Gertrude) of Rochester, NY and George Barnwell (Marilyn) of Dale, SC; six sisters, Harriet Derico (James) and Claire Robinson both of Dale, SC, Rosena Smith of Rochester, NY, Evelyn Richardson (Larnie) of New York City, NY, Mary Franklin of August, GA and Sarah Gibson (Robert) of Dale, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Interment, Barnwell Family Cemetery, Dale, SC
