Obituary of Oscar Rayam

Rochester: Oscar Rayam, Jr. died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 6, 2011 in Rochester, NY. He was born October 4, 1924 in Madison, FL. to Oscar Rayam, Sr. and Roberta Wright Rayam. Oscar Rayam joined the Navy in 1944 and received an Honorary Discharge in the fall of 1949. While attending a Church Retreat in Jennings, Florida, he met Stella Gandy. After years of courtship, Oscar and Stella were married on July 11, 1953. The newly-weds located to Rochester, where Oscar Rayam went to work for McGraw & Edison American Laundry Machinery. He worked for American Laundry for 20 years before taking a job at General Railway Signal, he retired from GRS in 1995. Oscar Rayam, Jr., leaves 9 children, Lethe G. Fletcher of Florida, Oscar (Madeline) Rayam, III, Rodney Rayam, Shirley (Marvin) Johnson, Troy Rayam, Valencia (Rev. Melvin Sr.) Edmondson, Floyd (Donna) Rayam Sr., Michael Rayam and Sheila Rayam. Oscar Rayam, Jr. is predeceased by his wife, Stella Rayam.
