Obituary of Nellie McCloud
Please share a memory of Nellie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nellie Mae McCloud was born December 29, 1937 to Theodore and Vanilla Wardlaw. Nellie was the third of four cherished daughters.
Following the loss of her mother at an early age, Nellie and her sisters were raised by her aunt, Artice Miller in Madison, Florida.
It was in Madison that she met and married Tom McCloud, Jr., a marriage that lasted 30 years.
The family moved to Rochester in November of 1963. Nellie worked for the Xerox Cooperation until her retirement in 2000, after over 30 years of service.
She loved to travel with her family. She also enjoyed gardening and could often be found in her yard working in the garden she loved. She would often say it was how she relaxed.
Nellie was preceded in death by: her parents, Theodore and Vanilla Wardlaw; sisters: Leola Brundidge (the eldest), Mary Helen Moore, and Zelma Damond (the youngest and cutest). Nellie made her journey home on Sunday, May 20, 2012, leaving us as gently and sweetly as she lived. She is survived by: her children: Wanda McCloud, Janice Franklin, Randy McCloud and Barbara McCloud; grandchildren: LaToya and Ashley McCloud, Carese Franklin and Whitney Breedlove; great grandchildren: Jayden and Jahsir McCloud-Dukes, Carese Franklin Jr., Jyrese Jones, and the youngest and cutest, Jounree' Breedlove-Beason.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Williams Interfaith Chapel.
