Obituary of Donna Banks

Please share a memory of Donna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donna Marie Banks was born in Kingston, Jamaica on September 17th, 1963 to the parents of Harry and Minette Brown. She was the middle child, Leon Brown Sr. was the eldest and Carlene Ali was the youngest. Donna also has an eldest sister Violet Barrett. As a child she attended Rochester Junior Academy not only participating in school but also in church singing in the youth choir and being a pathfinder. During her high school years she attended and graduated from Churchville Chili High School and then later completed an Associate's degree in Computer Science from Monroe Community College as well as a Bachelor's of Science from Brockport University. Donna loved so many things including cooking, singing, reading, shopping and traveling but her main focus was always her children along with her love for Christ. She aimed to be a living example for her children and instilled in them Gods teachings. She encouraged them every step of the way and set a precedent that God should always be the number one focus in their lives. She was proud of each and every one of them even up until the end. Although she was going through a strenuous battle she still continued to serve and participate within the church. She was a sweet woman who always made it a point to take care of her family and help others even before herself. Her grandchildren were her precious jewels that filled her youthful personality with love and laughter. Her strong will and determination allowed her to conquer life's obstacles gracefully. And her toughest conflicts were fought with dignity. Nothing could stop her. On April 3rd, 2015 Donna was called home after a long struggle with cancer. Although we know that her life was cut short she will truly be missed. Ecclesiastes 3:1-9 says, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. We will never understand God's timing but in everything there is a season. Donna Banks was a woman of true strength. Her courage and faith was what kept her strong even up until the end. Although we think that her chapter is closed her presence and memories will always lie within us.
