Obituary of Morgan Nettles

Morgan Nolan Nettles was born Monique Nettles Thomas on July 26, 1970 in Middletown, Connecticut. On November 11, 2011, Monique's name was legally changed to Morgan Nolan Nettles. Morgan preferred to be called Nolan and was affectionately called Nikki by Mom and others. On February 15, 1973, Nolan and Shena, moved with their parents Sandra and James Thomas, Jr. to the Rochester Metro area. Nolan attended Leary Elementary School in Henrietta, Martha Brown Middle School in Fairport and ultimately graduated with a Regents diploma from Fairport High School in 1988. In 1990 Nolan received an Associate Degree from Genesee Community College. Nolan's work history in the Rochester community included Security, Fitness and Human Services. In 1996, there was a move to San Francisco, the city that stole Nolan's heart. In San Francisco, Nolan provided security for high profile people such as Maya Angelou and Arnold Schwarzengger. While there, Nolan joined and attended Glide Church. Returning to Rochester in 2003, Nolan worked for the Society for the Prevention and Care of Children and the Rochester Plaza. While living in the Rochester area frequent trips were made back to San Francisco and ultimately New York City because these cities were rich with the kinds of cultural activities that Nolan loved and craved. While living in Rochester, Nolan really enjoyed spending time with nephew, Landon and nieces Bria and Blessing. On September 11, 2012, Nolan transitioned. Left to adjust to the new reality are parents Sandra and James; sister, Shena; nephew, Landon; nieces, Bria and Blessing; auntie, Marva and other extended family and friends. Nolan's ashes will be taken to San Francisco. A Very Special "Thank You" to Calvary Chapel Rochester.
