Juanita was born to Jack and Annie Ridgeway in Brantley, Alabama on November 24, 1924. She went to Dozier Elementary School in Dozier, Alabama. She met James B. Washington and they married in 1944.
Juanita worked for the Rochester City School District as a crossing guard. She loved her uniform, especially her whistle. Nana clothed, fed and prayed for anyone who needed it. She was just a wonderful spirited person.
Juanita was a dedicated volunteer for The House of Mercy that she helped Sister Grace find on Central Park. Sister Grace and Sister Rita were her beloved friends.
Juanita was a very happy person that loved everybody. She was religious and loved Jesus. Juanita loved to sing, cook, fish, tell stories and jokes. She told the best stories and everyone she met loved her. Juanita was a serious Bingo player- Queen of the Bingo Palace.
Juanita Washington is survived by 2 brothers, Benny and Joe Ridgeway; 2 sisters, Gracie Hill and Barbara J. Carter; her devoted daughters, Maxine Ashford and Edna Everett; 8 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her husband, James B. Washington; parents, Jack and Annie Ridgeway and 18 siblings.
