Obituary of Verdell Smith

Verdell Smith was born May 3, 1930 in Americus, Georgia to the late Arthur Lee and Katie Mae Reid. She was the fourth of five children born to this union. She spent her early childhood in Americus, Georgia, until she relocated to Sanford, Florida in 1936.
Verdell attended the public schools of Seminole County in Sanford, Florida.
She relocated to Rochester, New York, and worked for Eastman Kodak. Due to illness, she returned to Sanford, Florida.
Verdell enjoyed playing board games. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a grandparent volunteering her time in Seminole Middle Schools.
She was a faithful member of Zion Temple of Apostolic Faith under the leadership of Bishop Eugene Jarrett.
Verdell went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Charles (Dorothy) Reid of Sanford, Florida, two daughters, Barbara (Dale) Wilson of Douglas, Georgia and Paulette Gatson of Rochester, New York; one stepdaughter, Desire Johnson of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren: Shannon (Lisa), Monique (Terry), Darin, Myriel, Little Charles (Nancy), Anton, Charlette and Michelle: several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Celebration was held in Rochester, NY on Saturday, June 1, 11AM, Holy of Holy's Deliverance Ministries, 121 Lincoln Ave.
Additional services will be held in Sanford, FL on Saturday, June 8, 11AM, International Worship Deliverance Ministry, 1203 W. 11th Street. Pastor Willie Pearl Thomas, officiating.
