January 8, 1947 – July 7, 2023
John Henry Jackson, Sr., the son of the late Squire and Katherine Jackson, was born on January 8, 1947 in Sanford, Florida. His family moved to Rochester, NY when he was an infant, where he remained until he transitioned on July 7, 2023.
He accepted Christ at a young age and was a life-long member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church.
John received his education at Edison Technical High School. He is a Class of 1966 graduate. He also took classes at RIT. He worked at Eastman Kodak as a printer and supervisor. After retiring he worked at Rochester City School #34 as a Paraprofessional, J C Penney’s, where he loved selling suits and First Student Transportation as a Bus Monitor. John enjoyed participating in drum corps. He also loved fishing, traveling and playing cards. John would tell us stories about his parents, siblings, children, relatives and friends. Some of us had them almost memorized, but listened to them as if it were the first time.
He is predeceased by daughter, Nicole, and sister Marie Henry. Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife, Garnett/Jean, his daughter Wendy, son, John Jr., step-daughter, Staci Williams, all of Rochester and step-son, Geraldd (Casey) Williams, of Alpharetta, GA. Ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His sisters, Joyce (Stanley) Cowan, Mildred Jefferson, Thelma Ross, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
