“Afterglow”

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times and

bright and \sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Mickey Hemingway-Brunson was born March 13, 1968 in

Kingstree, South Carolina, to Jessie Hemingway and the late Jack

Hemingway. He attended St. Mark High School in Kingstree.

He was employed as a school bus driver from 1982 to 1986. He

returned to Rochester, New York to attend Liverpool Tractor Trailer

School. For the next 36 years, his life was centered around driving

tractor trailers cross country.

Mickey was a loving son, brother, and uncle. His smile would light

up a room and cause even the hardest of hearts to melt. He deeply

loved his family and always brought laughter to a gathering. Mickey

particularly enjoyed the time spent with his nephews and nieces.

Predeceased by his father, Jack Hemingway, Mickey transitioned

his earthly life February 5, 2023, leaving to cherish his memory: his

mother, Jessie Hemingway; a sister, Donna Hemingway; a brother,

Jack Hemingway; stepbrother, Preston Allison; nephew, Tiquan

Moore; niece, Alexis Hemingway; great-nephew, Kobe Young;

great-niece, A’Layah Moore, all of Rochester, New York; five aunts:

Joan Snowden of Rochester, New York, Polly Cooper and Lucille

Ballard of Kingstree, South Carolina, Flora Clay of Willingboro, New

Jersey and Lue Hemingway of Rochester, New York; one uncle,

Johnny Brunson of Johnsonville, South Carolina, and a host of

cousins and friends.

Mickey was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
