James W. Gayden was born on June 27, 1938 to the late Wade Gayden and Rosalee Graham in Lake Alfred Florida who was preceded in death by his brother John Gayden. His Hobbies included fishing, traveling, barbecuing and entertaining with his family and friends. He had a sweet tooth, and he always had a saying for something. “Respect your Elders”,  and ” Been there, can Tell, Going there, How to Get There”.

James W Gayden moved from Florida to Rochester NY. He decided to move to Los Angeles, CA  in the early 60’s and returned to Rochester NY in 1972. He worked for the Rochester Housing Authority for 27 years and later retired.

James met Mary in April of 1972 .They raised their family and Married in Rochester, New York and in their later years moved to Charlotte NC in 2010.  They have been together for 52 years until his passing.

James was baptized in 2004 under the Ark of Jesus Church in Rochester NY where he began his walk with the Lord. In 2007 Pastor Gayden heard the Spirit of Lord call and he answered the call into ministry. Pastor Gayden Served as a minister under David Singleton from August 2004 until moving to Charlotte NC. Pastor Gayden preached and taught the word of God at Gilead Baptist church until passing. Pastor Gayden joined New Gilead Baptist & months later he was elected to pastor Gilead Baptist Church.

On Tuesday, December 14, 2022 at 9:05AM. Early was the morning and bright was the day (Jay-Bird) Pastor James W. Gayden was called to his eternal restinging place. He leaves to cherish fond memories with his loving wife Mary L Gayden, Brother Dan Gayden, Sister in law Betty Gayden. Children, Theron Gayden ( (Cricket), Rodney Gayden, Keith Gayden (Laurie), Kimberly Graves, Angelique and Acquanetta Oliver, Tracy (Levalle) Pemberton-Walker, Stephanie Betters, stepchildren Sharon Evans, Bobby Hunter (Rosalind) Lisa (Brian) Binion, Tonette Michelle(Reginald) Reed, and Kelvin. A host of Grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and relatives. Special friends Bishop David Singleton and George McAllister  from Rochester New York and Pastor Fred Williams, Pastor Outting, and Pastor Massey of Charlotte Nc.
