Obituary of Joseph E. Hall
Passed on Monday, December 5, 2022 at age 91.
Joseph E. Hall was born in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Hilda Ernestine Bush and Ralph Elijah Hall. He attended Valdosta Elementary School and Valdosta High School where he excelled in his studies. He was awarded a full scholarship that would open the doors to his destiny. In 1955, Joseph graduated from the New York School of Embalming and Restorative Art. After completing his residency, he became the manager of the famed Unity Funeral Home located on 8th Avenue in Harlem, New York from 1957 to 1968.
In 1972, Joseph moved to Rochester, New York where he worked at Genesee Funeral Home for 10 years until starting his own business Joseph E. Hall Funeral Home in 1982.
A man of faith, Joseph loved both his biological and church families. He dedicated his life to serving people from all walks of life. Over the past 40 years, Joseph helped many families find peace and comfort during the most difficult time of their lives -- mourning the loss of a loved one. We will miss him and his service to the Rochester community.
He leaves to cherish his memories and honor his legacy, his devoted wife Edith Hall; children: Janet Beaty of San Diego, California, Tracy (Carl) Gibson, James (Zuri) Beaty, Jr., Dorothy (Edward) Mitchner of Crescent City, Florida, Irene Long of Daytona Beach, Florida along with a host grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. In addition to his parents Hilda Ernestine Long and John Long (stepfather), Joseph is preceded in death by his grandparents: Hennie and Cubie Roundtree; his sons: Jarvis and Irvin; stepson Ernest Beaty; brother Robert Long, Sr. and sisters: Helen Powell and Linda Ashe.
