Obituary of John C. Burch

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Not how did he die, but how did he live.
Not what did he gain, but what did he give.
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.

John C. Burch was born December 14, 1934 in Macon County,
Georgia. Having lost both his parents and baby sister at a very young
age, he was adopted by his mother’s sister, Essie Doris.
His aunt Essie moved him to Osawatomie, Kansas where he lived
and grew up. He met his wife, Delois Greene in Paola, Kansas, and
they were married on June 5, 1955. Their union produced six
children: Sierra, Romando, Rhonda, DeCarra, Laurie and Corey.
John became employed in an electrical store, where he learned to
work with various types of electrical equipment. He enrolled in
Manpower (a vocational school), pursuing a career as an electrical
engineer. He was later self-employed with his two sons, Romando
and Corey, to whom he taught his trade. John also loved working on
cars, rebuilding and selling them. He owned a red GTO which he
nicknamed “Geronimo.”
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, John will be greatly
missed. He was called home on October 19, 2022, to be with his
beloved wife, Delois, who preceded him in death during the month of
August, 2021 after 67 years of marriage.
John leaves to cherish his memory; his children: Sierra, Romando,
Rhonda, DeCarra, Laurie and Corey; and a host of grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
