Obituary of Linford Roy Hamilton

Passed on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at age 79.

Linford was born to Theophilus “Cas” Hamilton and Catherine “Sis” Daley on November 1, 1942. He and his wife, Deloris Hamilton, have owned and operated D&L Groceries for the past 38 years. Linford, a Master Electrician, also owned and operated Barton Electrical Contractors Inc., for many years. As a member of Genesee Baptist Church since 1973, he served in many capacities, including on the Board of Trustees. Linford Hamilton was a well-respected member of the 19th Ward association and a founding member of the Rochester Jamaican Organization (RJO). As a business leader in the Rochester community, he was involved with and supported numerous community programs and initiatives.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Deloris Hamilton; daughters, Janet Hamilton and Sharon (Hamilton)Sue-Wah-Sing; siblings, Linnette Berry, George (Jenny) Hamilton, Valerie Warren, Mark (Pansy) Reid, Cecil (Delores) Campbell, Ikiah Thomas, Ramsey Hamilton and Boaz Hamilton; grandchildren, Maya Sue-Wah-Sing, Jada Sue-Wah-Sing and Lauren Stewart; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.

He was well loved and will be missed dearly.
