Rev. Ulyssus Campbell was born August 2, 1941, in Sanford, Florida to the late Thomas and Ethel Campbell. Rev. Campbell came to Rochester New York in the 60s and worked various jobs until he became employed at Delco GM (Valeo) and retired in April 2002. After retirement he drove for the Rochester city school District.

Rev. Campbell was married to Pauline Thomas May 18, 1974.

Rev. Campbell gave his life to God in 1980 and joined the Pentecostal Memorial Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend D.L. Whitaker where he became an ordained deacon. Later under the leadership of Rev. Fisher he became the chairman of the deacon board. Rev. Campbell was a very dedicated and faithful member of PMBC. Among the many things that Rev. Campbell did at the PMBC church he taught Sunday school, drove the church van, did communion with the sick and shut in, he made sure the first Sunday and Sunday school supplies were always in stocked, and for the churches annual high drive, he made sure that the fruits and vegetables were in abundance. On Palm Sunday he made sure that every church member had palms. Rev. Campbell was a very active member at PMBC.

During his time at Pentecostal memorial Baptist Church, he became a minister under the direction of the Holy Spirit and Reverend Fisher. Reverend Campbell wasn’t the best singer, but his favorite devotional hymn was “Father I Stretch My Hands to Thee” and his favorite congregational song was “We Are Climbing Jacob’s Ladder”. He was a very faithful, devoted, and dedicated member for over 35 years until he moved his membership to The Guiding Light Outreach Ministry, under the leadership of Min. Marilyn Murrell. September 23, 2018 under the guidance of the Holy Spirit Rev. Campbell was ordained by Bishop Burnice Green Sr. Reverend Campbell was a faithful and dedicated member of the Guiding Light Outreach Ministry church until its doors were closed.

He never stopped worshiping the Lord. He started attending the Victory Outreach Ministry Church under the leadership of Reverend Billy Lander in 2021 until his health began to fail him.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoy fixing cars. On any nice day he and his daughter Twanda and his granddaughter Nye would go fishing. He said that the water brought him peace.
