Obituary of Janet Waller
Janet Waller was born on October 29, 1941 in Rocking-
ham, North Carolina to the late Belton Brown and Annie
(Washington) Brown. Janet was the 13th child of 13 children.
Janet accepted Christ at the age of 12 and became a member
of Ellerbe Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of
Reverend Boone.
She began her education in Rockingham, North Carolina.
She was allowed to join the basketball team in the third
grade. She became one of the greatest players on the
team and eventually became captain. In 1958, she relocated
to Rochester, New York and finished her education at
Franklin High School.
On May 5, 1962, Janet married the love of her life Wade Waller.
To this union she was blessed with a son Clayton Waller and
a stepson Clarence Hollins. In 1971, Janet began her career at Eastman Kodak Company -- after 28 years she retired. While
working at Kodak, she was also a home care provider for
intellectually disabled. She worked with four men for 25 years.
Janet and her husband joined Holy Trinity Church, with
his famiy, under the leadership of Reverend Daniel. After Rev.
Daniel’s passing, Janet came up with the idea to start a new
church. She shared with her husband, Deacon James Thomas
along with Reverend Raines III -- they liked the idea. Reverend
Raines told them he would be the pastor and he did. This was the
birth of Ebenezer Baptist Church
Janet is predeceased by her husband Wade Waller, her
father Belton Brown, mother Annie (Washington) Brown and
three sisters and nine brothers. She leaves to mourn: her son
Clayton Waller; stepson Clarence Hollins; 11 nephews
and six nieces; special nephew Chris Brown and
godson Jerry Ingram; along with many great-nephews and nieces;
two special nieces: Erla Mae Moorehead (deceased) and Tavyn
Thomas who were with Janet during her illness.
