Obituary of Mark C. Barton Jr.
On December 10, 1997, in Rochester, New York Mark D. Barton Sr. and Nancy Kate Williams were blessed with a baby boy named Mark Christian Barton Jr. He affectionately became known as Markee to his friends and family. Everyone loved his infectious smile (with that one dimple), his willingness to help others and make them smile. As a kid he enjoyed wrestling, football, and annoying his two sisters Nancy and Montea. Mark’s favorite person to be around was the late Nancy Benjamin who taught him how to cook and make cookies. He also enjoyed spending weekends and summers with his Aunt Lenora Harper and his Uncle Thomas Harper. Most of all he loved spending time with his nieces Nayati and Channah Passmore who called him “Uncle Mar Mar”.
Through his youth he played sports like Baseball for Eastside Little League, Pop Warner Football for Irondequoit Eagles, and Basketball for Cornerstone Christian Academy. Over the years Mark met many people and made many friends that impacted his life. In 2015 Mark graduated from Cornerstone Christian Academy in Brockport, NY where he was mentored and impacted greatly by his principal Christopher Johnson. Mark then took a summer job where he grew a passion for painting. That fall he attended FingerLakes Community College for business management.
In 2016 he started his own painting and construction business called Mark’s College Pro Painters LLC. This led him to pursue a trade in carpentry through Union Local 276 in 2017. He worked for the Union alongside his business Mark’s College Pro Painter’s until his passing. For any of you that knew Mark he liked to stay fresh and fly with the latest trends. He was always at the mall shopping for clothes, sneakers, and jewelry.
He passed away suddenly on Sunday September 12, 2021, at the age of 23. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Nancy Kate Benjamin and his grandfather Clarence Moore. He is survived by his (father) Mark D Barton Sr., (Mother) Nancy Kate Williams, (Grandmother) Dora J. Barton, (Grandmother) Valerie Moore, (Siblings) Montea (Davis) Passmore, Nancy Jackson, Essence (Courtney) Barton, Jalaishia Washington, Ryanne Jackson, Mikyla (Arthur) Allen, Chyna Jackson, Marquis Washington, Myquan Washington, Juanyae McNeal, Marquise (Marlon) Melton, Porcha (Mike) Radcliffe, Kareem Washington, Toccara Travet, Shia McNeal, Shania Barton (Of Utica) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
