Obituary of Ruby Jean Bryan

Ruby Jean Bryan (Ellis) was born July 23, 1958, second oldest child to eight children of the late Carlee Sr. and Dorothy Jean Ellis.  She was one of two children who were deaf.  Her father later remarries and had two more children from that union.

Ruby was the first African American to attend and then graduate the Rochester School of the Deaf. After her graduation in 1977, she went on to attend Helen Keller School for the blind and graduated in 1979.  She studied to become a teacher and went on to teach sign language and her love for Jehovah.  After losing her eyesight she still served Jehovah and attended religious serviceregularly.  

In 1980, she married Julius Bryan Jr. and from that union three children were born.

Although teaching was her passion, Ruby's creativity touched the hearts of everyone around her.  Ruby was an avid crocheter, and made hats, scarfs, shawls, pillows, and blankets just to name a few.  She gave her creations as gifts to family and friends.  Although Ruby lost her eyesight she knew what sizeyou were just by touch of her gifted hands.  Ruby danced with grace becuase she was truly a lover of music.  Ruby was truly a trailblazer.  She faced challenges no one can fathom she danced and guided her way with grace.  

Ruby's infectious smile and out load laughter will be greatly missed by all that knew her, for she was loved by her fa,mily and friends.

Ruby was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers, Carlee Jr. and Darby Ellis; sister, Alice Ellis; aunt, Velma Tensley; uncle, Arlee Ellis;  father-in-law, Julious Bryan Sr.;  mother-in-law, Arberzenia Bryan.

She leaves to cherish her momory, husband, Julius BryanJr.; children, Jerreyr, Judity, and Vanessa Bryan; grandchildren, Antonio Bryan and Tai'shaun Fry of Georgia, Zy'hiem Morgan, Isabelle Bryan, Moyeshia Morgan and Ja'Orian Bryan of ALabama; brothers, Allen, Matthias (Michelle), and Andrew (Kimberly) of New York, Rawn Mitchell of Arizona, LaShawn Ellis of Florida; sisters, Gail Berkers, and Toshia Mitchell of New York, Novel Ellis of Georgia and Glenda Wise of Florida; aunts Dorthoty Hillman, Nalla Lynch of New York, Faye Wiggins of North Carlina, Alice Ellis of Georgia, Jeannie Sargent of Arkansas; uncles, Jackie Tensley of New York and Jimmy Anthony of Arkansas; many nieces, nephews especially her caregiver Anthony Barber Jr., cousins and friends.
