His Story

Stephon Damon “Roc” Perry-Smith was born in Rochester, New York to Maurice Perry and Stephanie Ann Thomas who gifted him to Herman and Arlene Smith at an early age out of their love for him. This began his life into a blended family, God knew that Stephon would need much love to nurture him. Stephon fondly known as “Roc” came into this world with obstacles that would challenge him all through his life, yet he overcame them “ALL”.

He received Christ at a young age, who truly watched over him. He spent most of his young life in and out of hospitals due to sickle cell anemia, even with this he blessed many others.

Roc loved video games as long as he didn’t lose. Mac and cheese and hamburgers were his favorite foods. Roc always left everyone he met with a smile on their face. You would love him or be mad; but in the end you would just shake your head and smile because there was only one of him and he was “One of a Kind”.

Roc attended several schools but #4 school and Franklin High School were his favorites. He was employed at Walmart on Hudson Ave for a short time. Hudson Ave would become his favorite place (do or die) which would eventually have a part in his early passing.

Stephon met Stephanie and they had two beautiful daughters together. This was the most wonderful thing that happened to him.

Stephon “Roc” departed this life on June 10, 2021, predeceased by his grandparents Charles (Mary Onara) Perry, Bernard Thomas, Hoover (Nina) Smith, Damond (Julia) Halmond, Rosevelt (Willion) King-Smith. He leaves to cherish his memory two sets of parents: Maurice (Toni) Perry, Stephanie Thomas, and Herman (Arlene) Smith. Siblings: Danielle, Desiree, Maurice Jr., Sanetra (Jon) Wilson, Porscha and Antoine Smith. Special cousin: Nicole Edwards. His beautiful children: Maya and Ava and the love of his life Stephanie Sanabria, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
