Marion Carter, Jr was born in New York City on August 6, 1963 to the late Marion Carter Sr and Geneva Williams Carter. Affectionately known as J.R. to his friends, he moved to Rochester at a young age, where he continued to live until his passing.

J.R. was known for his infectious smile and willingness to help. He was never one to complain, he loved his work at Hank Parker and loved helping people. His favorite activities included watching Judge Judy, bowling, spending time with family, and rooting on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He attended Holy Light Church of God and later attended The Father's House faithfully.

At 57 years of age, he passed away peacefully on Sunday May 9, 2021, surrounded by loved ones and the hospice care team at Strong Memorial Hospital. J.R. was predeceased by one sister, Brenda Carter, but left to cherish his memories are his loving mother, Geneva Carter, and three sisters: Theresa (Tony) Lee of Bakersfield, CA, Carolyn Carter of Henrietta, NY, and Vanessa (Robert) Woods of Seneca, SC. He is also survived by two brothers, Aaron and Deron Carter of Rochester, NY. His surviving family also includes two aunts: Mosetta Johnson of Delco, NC and Trudy Carter of Rochester, NY.
