Obituary of Daisy Mae Wiggs Dilbert

Please share a memory of Daisy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daisy Mae Wiggs-Dilbert passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 with family by her side. Daisy was born April 24, 1933, in Thomasville Ga. to Milliard and Daisy Wiggs. She married Arthur P. Dilbert Sr. February 14, 1959, and they both nourished a family of 12 in Savannah, Ga. She moved to Rochester, NY in 1975. Despite the naysayers who believed she should not attempt college and the mounting pressures of raising 12 kids in the city of Rochester, she received her Associate Degree in Childcare Development from Monroe Community College. She worked as a dedicated Preschool Teacher for 18 years at Jefferson Avenue Daycare. Her living aspirations were learning and loving, which she imparted to her pre-school students and her own children daily. All twelve of her children attended college, and she relished in the fact that they attained higher education extending up to doctoral degree. With learning and loving God paramount in her life, she attended Trinity Emmanuel Presbyterian Church for 30 years. She visited the sick and shut in as a loyal member of the deacon board, and she served on the Voices of Peace as a choir member. While serving on the usher board, she managed the Sunshine Club. In 2009, she became one of the founding members of Abundant Life Faith Center Inc. She faithfully performed functions such as attending Bible Study and Sunday school weekly. She lived her life believing that all things are made possible through God; she loved the Bible, and her most inspirational verse was Psalms 121…. "My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth." Daisy really loved staying connected to her family. As a founding member of the Wiggs Family Reunion, she has never missed a reunion in 28 years. Additionally, she attended the Hopkins Family Reunions, which is her maternal lineage. She yearly sacrificed by saving and paying for many family members who otherwise could not afford to attend reunions. Daisy was survived by her children: Nancy, Selena (Anthony), Paulette (Bobby), Arthur (Sharon), Dan (VyVyonne), Boris, Jaqueline (Lancelot), Brenda, Randy (Alicia), Stephan (Terri), and Stephanie (Howard); 34 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 8 siblings (James, Freeman, Minnie, Nancy, Hezekiah, Malachi, Thomas, and twin brother-Millard Wiggs) and daughter (Elizabeth Torrance).
