Obituary of Etta Mitchell

Etta Mitchell passed away on January 6, 2021 at Kirkhaven nursing home living to see 100 years old. Born on June 10, 1920 in Sumpter, South Carolina to the late Mrs. Lula Swopes. Etta lived in Rochester, New York since leaving South Carolina where she raised her children; and was fortunate enough to have never really worked a day in her life. She lived a healthy free life with having nothing but "high blood pressure". Unfortunately, due to the deadly virus that has come upon this earth (COVID) that claimed this long life. It is with sadness that this life was taken under such circumstances. It is with joy to have witnessed a life with such longevity. In Etta's own words, “if you ever live to see my age". Etta was predeceased by all of her siblings; 4 sisters and 1 brother. Survived by 2 of her six children; daughter, Jeanette Bice and son, Kenneth Mitchell, born to the late Mr. Willie Bice Jr.; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren including her granddaughter Alicia Peterson whom she raised as one of her own; many other relatives and friends. Mom and Grandma you will certainly be missed. We love you.
