Christine L. Smith was born in Edon, Kansas on December 17, 1918. She passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Fair Haven Home in Bostic, NC. She was the last of 12 siblings. Her parents were Sallie Angeline Mott-Evans and Rev. James Albert Evans. Mrs. Smith attended Langston University in Oklahoma. She worked at the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York for over 38 years until her retirement. She was married to World War II Veteran William Dan Smith for 55 years until his death October 30th, 1993. She is the mother of three sons; Carl William (Ozzie); Warren Calvin (Earline) and Steven Curtis (HenriAnn); grandmother of Linda, Juliann, Leonne, Warren Calvin II, Lijuana, William Michael, Steven Curtis II, and Shawn. She has seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was a long-time member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Rochester, NY and a devout Christian. She was an award-winning speaker with Toastmasters International, and was active in New York State politics in the 1970's. Dear to her heart, in addition to her family, was the Community Child Care Center in Rochester where she served on the board of directors. She cared deeply for “her babies” as she would call them.
Mrs. Christine L. Smith was kind and generous to all, and will be sincerely missed. She rejoices now with the Lord.
