Mr. Gregory Lewis “Cece” Johnson, son of the late Rebecca Byrd (Johnson) was born April 4, 1962 in Rochester, NY. Gregory attended the public schools of the City of Rochester and was a graduate of Madison High School. Gregory went on to enlist in the United States Navy and served in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ. He joined Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Phoenix, AZ where he was a dedicated member. Mr. Johnson was an active member of the Phoenix Veterans Administration Hospital. As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was adored by many. His Christian life was as beautiful as the service that he was committed to providing to other veterans that he served, and his influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. Gregory quietly departed this life Saturday, September 5, 2020 in Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Byrd (Johnson), and sister Linda Carol Porschea. His life will forever be cherished in the lives of all that knew him: his brothers; Kenneth Johnson, Michael Johnson (Rochester, NY), Kamala Byrd (Dansville, NY), His partner of 26 years, Tony Elbert (Phoenix,AZ); The Williams Family; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
