REFLECTION OF LIFE
Mother Gussie “Big Mama” was known as a Godly woman, classy and very generous. She was a
loving and caring woman to all who knew her and would go above and beyond to help anyone in
need. Her genuine love for her God and family was evident. She was a light of beacon for everyone who knew her and her love for people showed daily. She was one of a kind and a Phenomenal woman.
Mother Gussie held her first job at the age of 9, working hard in tobacco fields in Quincy, FL to help support her family. She later worked at the tobacco factory making cigars for several years, until she moved to Rochester, NY in 1957. She worked very hard over the years, retiring from West Irondequoit High school.
Mother Gussie gave her life, to the Lord and attended several churches until she found her home church “Bible Way Healing Assembly” under the leadership of Bishop Eulah Nelson. She was one of the first members to join the Pastor’s Aid Committee, established the Johnathan Service bereavement services and became one of the First Mothers of the church. DON'T CRY FOR ME
Don’t cry for me, I’m where I want to be…
The good Lord heard my cries and carried me.
I was ready to go; my family should know.
I was tired of hospital stays, tiresome nights and tiresome days.
No more doctor bills or daily pills.
God came for me and that was his will.
So now Family do the right thing
Don’t cry for me just sing
You know right from wrong
Do the right thing and All get along.
I love you but God love me best.
Be happy I’m finally getting my Rest.
