Jane Brown was born on January 7, 1937, in Statesboro,Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Mamie Lou and Ernest Davis Sr. and the mother of seven beautiful children. She spent her early childhood years in Miami, Florida where she attended and graduated from Dorsey High school. Jane attended nursing school and began to devote her life to the healthcare field once she moved to New york City, where she later met and married her husband Herman Brown of 45 years. She worked at United Cerebral Palsy in Queens, New York caring for individuals within the developmentally disabled community and managed group homes for young adults and women providing an array of services to those in need. Working in this field truly fulfilled her love and passion within her heart to care for others and lend a helping hand to the next person. Later in life, Jane relocated to Rochester, New York in 1981 to care for her mother, Mamie McCrimmon. She continued her work in servicing others at Monroe Developmental Center and CP of Rochester until she later retired. Jane has always been a believer and received Christ in her life at an early age. She attended United Missionary Baptist Church in Rochester for several years and later transferred to Emmanuel Church of Jesus Apostolic Faith, where she and her husband fellowshipped together. She was an active, faithful member and known as Mother Brown... the Mother of the Church. Jane was kind, loving, and nurturing. She will be greatly missed by the many lives that she touched and remain in the hearts of all that knew her. Jane is predeceased by her mother Mamie Johnson- McCrimmon, father Ernest Davis Sr. , brother Ernest Davis Jr., sister Alma Jones, sister Brutine Mosley, grand-daughter Toni LaDea Lewis, step-sister Bessie Johnson and dear best friend and sister Diane Harrington. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Herman Brown, children Jerome Lewis Davis, Stan Lewis, Regina Lewis, Anthony Lewis, Tracey Lewis-Feurtado (Lance Sr.), Mark Lewis, Shanee Brown-Valentino (Rudolph); Grandchildren Marion Mcknight Roberts (Patrick), Vadisha Lewis, LaConyea R. Feurtado, Monique Hill-Feurtado, Lance Feurtado Jr., Markisha Lewis, Maurice Lewis, Kyeshon Brown, Nicole Cire Brown, Alyssa Lewis, Rasheed Conyers, Justin Gatson, A.J. Lewis, and Markie Rose Lewis. 4 great-grandchildren Marquis, Taniya, Vadis, Paris and Caleb; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in law Jim Brown (Lou Ann); two sister-in-laws Christine Harris and Mary Brown; step-brother Bill Johnson, a special aunt Patricia Battle; 3 God-daughters Elaine Kennedy, Yolanda Harrington-Steele, and Debra Merrill;a very special niece Mamie Leach and 2 special best friends Joyce Waddy and Margie James as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
