Leona Staggers-Timmons was born in Andrews, South Carolina on November 11, 1939 to James Sr. and Annie C. Staggers. She attended RoseMary High School, where she graduated June, 1959. Leona married the love of her life, George Timmons Jr. They resided in Paterson, New Jersey. There, she was a member of Christ Church Methodist. Devoted to her church, Leona was the president of both the Crispus Attucks Scholarship committee and the Women’s Auxiliary Club. While employed with GS Lithography, she took on an apprenticeship and later received a degree in photography. As a color specialist, she worked with print and imaging and later retired after 20 years of service. Leona loved the Lord first and foremost and loved reading her bible. She was a great cook and enjoyed family gatherings, interior decorating, arts and crafts, and word search puzzels. She was a beautiful, classy, and tasteful woman. Leona fought a good fight in her illness and entered into rest on March 6, 2020 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, New York. She is predeceased by both her parents and husband; daughter, Angela Staggers-Shoulars; and brother, James Staggers Jr. she leaves in love and memory, her children, George (Kim) Timmons and Shaervon (Darryl) Timmons-Atkinson; grandchildren, Shageojohbri Shoulars, Tahir Atkinson and Ebony Buckingham; four great-grands; her sister, Marian Mills; sister-in-law, Mary Timmons; and a host of nieces, and nephews; a very special niece, Ava Patterson. Leona is truly loved and will be greatly missed.
