Obituary of Robert Bullock
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Lewis Bullock, commonly known as bobby, was born on December 5, 1954 to Edward P. Bullock and Martha L. Bullock. He was the oldest of his siblings. Bobby was born, raised and lived in Rochester, New York all his life. When bobby was younger he participated in Cub Scouts, and played organized sports in school. He loved basketball and football. His favorite professional sports team was the Buffalo Bills.
Bobby attended schools in the Rochester School District, namely #6, #9, Frederick Douglass, East High and Franklin. Although he did not complete High School, he understood the importance of education and later earned his GED. Bobby the pursued higher education at Monroe Community College and had a special interest in business classes. He had long employment with Marette Plating and the City of Rochester.
He truly understood the meaning of love your neighbor as thy self. He was always willing to help someone less fortunate than himself. Even if bobby didn’t have much, he would still give you the shirt off his back. His couch was always available and hosted many people in need. He was a social butterfly, and anyone that encountered him became a friend for life. To know him was to love him. Bobby was an intellectual person, deep thinker and great conversationalist. He could hold a conversation on most any subject and could talk for hours. He was a mentor and confidant to many, and a person that you could tell anything, and it would not go any further.
Bobby’s first love was music. He was known as Suga Bear to the music world, primarily because he was a gentle giant. He was a songwriter, producer, talent scout, and musician. He was one of the best players in the City of Rochester. He was the CEO of Sitting Heavy Productions, which specialized in scouting new talent and band management. Bobby also played the bass with many bands, the most recent was the 585 Band, and at many venues in the community. He was a regular at the Battle of the Bands, Highland Bowl, and Clarissa Street Festival, just to name a few.
Bobby began his spiritual walk as a Mormon with the Church of Jesus of Latter-Day Saints, where he was baptized. He later joined and became the bass player for True Vine Pentecostal Ministries. Bobby passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. He was predeceased by his father Edward P. Bullock, daughter, Icy Latrica Danforth-Taylor, grandmothers: Mary Bullock and Sarah Kendrick, and Grandfather Samuel Kendrick. He leaves to mourn his mother, Martha L. Bullock, granddaughter Saadai Iman Taylor, sisters Sandra, Connie and Donna Bullock, Pamala Brown-Grinion, Barbara Ann Ghee, and a close friend that was like a sister Magnolia (“Pat”) Smith, brother Larry (Beverly) Bullock, step brothers Herman and Lee Williams, and he had a special relationship with his niece Ta Tanisha Fowler. He also leaves to mourn a host of other relatives and friends.
Rest in Heaven Bobby. We love you and you will forever be in our hearts.
