Obituary of Ricky Bryant

Please share a memory of Ricky to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ricky Lamar Bryant, Jr., affectionately known as "Man", was born on February 18, 1981 in Rochester, NY. He was born the second child to Ricky L. Bryant Sr. and the first child to Vicki J. Griffin. In his high school years Ricky enjoyed playing on the basketball team and caring for his brothers and sisters. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandfather because they had so much in common. People jokingly called him an "old soul" due to his love for jazz and blues music. Ricky graduated from Gates Chili High School in 1999. He then enlisted into the Marine Corps in the fall of the same year. While in the military he traveled all over the world and even fought in the operation Iraqi freedom war. He left the Corps after four years as Corporal. He later joined the Dekalb County police department in 2006. Ricky and Latoya united in holy matrimony on March 31, 2001, six years after they met. They were married for six and a half years. To this union were born Kashell, Jaden and Kami Bryant. His kids were truly the loves of his life. He joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church in the fall of 2000. He dedicated his whole life to his family, while also helping and protecting others. Ricky was an individual loved by all and admired by many. Even though his life was short lived, it was truly fulfilling. Ricky Bryant was a very rare human being. He inspired others to be the best they could be. His very presence would fill a room with joy. Those who Ricky L. Bryant Jr. spent time getting to know should consider themselves blessed for they were truly touched by an angel. He leaves behind to mourn his passing, his loving wife Latoya; mother, Vicki Griffin; father, Ricky L. Bryant Sr.; two daughters, Kashell and Justice Bryant; two sons, Jaden and Kami Bryant; one godson, Dallas Cooper Jr.; grandmothers, Claudia Bryant and Lillie Griffin; grandfather, Willie Griffin; brothers, Alex Griffin, Robert and Lamar Lovelace; sisters, Chiffonda, Sheena, Brandi and Briana Bryant; sister-in-law, Cynetta Jones; brother-in-law, Darrion Williams; godsister, Kizzy; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
